THE RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN PSYCHOLOGICAL WELL-BEING AND SOCIAL INTEGRATION LEVELS OF FOREIGN UNIVERSITY STUDENTS: THE MEDIATING ROLE OF LIFE SATISFACTION
Over the past few years, the number of international university students in Türkiye has risen for various reasons. These students may encounter various psychosocial problems, especially difficulties experienced in the social integration process. This research is designed to investigate the potential mediating role of life satisfaction in the relationship between psychological well-being and the social integration levels of international students enrolled at a university. A total of ninety-four international university students (35 female and 59 male) participated in the study voluntarily. The data were gathered through an online survey using the Psychological Well-Being Scale, Life Satisfaction Scale, Social Integration Scale, and a demographic information form. The data were examined using SPSS 25, applying both correlation and mediation techniques within the scope of quantitative research methods. The findings suggest a positive association between psychological well-being, life satisfaction, as well as between psychological well being and social integration. Additionally, life satisfaction mediates the relationship between psychological well-being and social integration. Based on these findings, it is recommended that psychosocial intervention programs be designed and implemented to improve the social integration of international university students, with particular consideration given to the variables examined in the present research.
